Electricity efficiency

The "ELECTRICITY EFFICIENCY" solution aims to optimize the electricity consumption of the home. For this purpose:

  • energy is measured and visualized in order to apply measures to limit inefficient expenses;
  • manual, local or remote control of electrical appliances is used;
  • algorithms for optimal automatic control of energy loads are implemented.

This solution is effective for houses in villa areas, rental homes, hotel rooms, but also for elderly people who live alone, and children who are alone at home and who need some control over the use of appliances.

The solution allows consumers to optimize energy costs for their home, within minutes and hours. This is something that is entering in everyday life. More and more consumers play a proactive role in determining their costs for water, electricity and heat.

The electricity measurement  is made by electricity meters, which can differ as place of installation, purpose and features. They can be:

  • stand-alone meters of energy parameters - for a home or separate current circuits,
  • meters as part of a smart contact or smart relay.

The electricity meters are installed at the input power supply point for the whole house, on current circuits, in contact brackets, such as smart sockets or power strips. They measure the consumption of basic household appliances - stove, dishwasher, washing machine, coffee maker, kettle, vacuum cleaner, TV and more. The electricity meters periodically send values of the measured active electrical energy (EA) and power (P), and other electrical parameters.

The electricity price depends on the tariff and the type of the consumer - household or non- household.

Household consumers pay a price that depends only on the amount of consumed energy, while the  non-household consumers, in addition to this price, pay a fee for connection to the distribution network. There are three ways to measure:

  • with one scale - the price is only for one type of energy;
  • with two scales – there are price for night energy and price for day energy;
  • with three scales - the prices are for night energy, for peak energy and for day energy.

Еstimated monthly elecltricity bill based on current power consumption gives an information about the price that would be paid in case of continues power consumption as the one in a certain moment. Еstimated monthly price is calculated depending on the current power and other parameters.

Estimated historical monthly price shows the approximate monthly bill for the electricity in case the average dayly consumptions for the days from the beginning of the billing period remains the same until the end of the billing period.

The visualization can include the following types of screens:

Screens with current data from the energy meters -

show the estimated prices, current powers, electrical parameter values, the status for on/off load. Such screen could also be used to issue commands to switch on/off of loads.

Screens with GRAPHICS (trends)

The graphs are about different parameters, for example: energy consumption, price, minimum and maximum power. In addition, they are for different period, for a week, a month, a year.

Report screen for the times of energy loads switching on and off

The "ELECTRICAL ENERGY EFFICIENCY" solution provides also automatic control of loads that are connected to contactors, smart sockets, smart relays or home appliances with built-in intelligence.

Examples about BOILER control:

Control of electric boiler having programmer function

The boiler is switched on every day, two hours before the end of the night electricity tariff and is switched off after 1.5 hours.

The switch-on time and the operating time are subject to configuration.

The automatic control mode can be switched on and off by using phone, panel or remote control. The boiler can also be switched on manually via telephone, panel or remote control.

Control of electric boiler by water temperature and night electricity tariff

The boiler is turned on at a calculated time so that to reach the desired temperature 5-10 minutes before the end of the night tariff. It is switched off when the desired temperature is reached, if it is in the night tariff time.

Outside the night tariff keeps the temperature of hot water within certain limits.
